A foal is a baby horse up to one year old.More specific terms are colt being a male and a filly being a female.After a horse is older than one it is no longer considered a foal it is conserderd a yearling.There are no age specific terms for horses over a yearling.When horses are old enoungh to breed a filly over three, four in horse racing is called a mare and a colt over three is called a stallion.

• Foals are mostly born at night.
• The first milk foals drink is crucial to their health.
• When a foal is born thier legs are already 80%-90% percent fully grown.
